Healthyhorns Student Advisory Committee
The Healthyhorns Student Advisory Committee is a volunteer student advisory group that serves in a direct advisory role to Healthyhorns leadership, overseeing University Health Services, the Counseling and Mental Health Center and the Longhorn Wellness Center It gives UT Austin students a direct voice in shaping these campus health and well‑being services.
No prior experience in healthcare or leadership is required, and students from all majors and areas of study are encouraged to apply. Just bring an interest in improving student health and well-being and representing fellow students.
Who can apply?
The committee is open to all currently enrolled UT Austin students, including undergraduate and graduate/professional students.
Selection prioritizes:
- Representation from a variety of UT schools and colleges
- At least two graduate or professional students
What members do?
- Attend 2-3 meetings per semester with Healthyhorns leadership
- Participate in ongoing discussion and feedback through a private Teams channel
- Share their own feedback and perspectives, as well as feedback, perspectives and experiences from students in their school/college
- Review Healthyhorns marketing and communication collateral when requested
- Assist with developing and distributing surveys or polls as needed

Time commitment
Members are selected for the academic year, with participation beginning in the fall semester. Meetings are coordinated by Healthyhorns staff, typically take place in the Student Services Building (SSB) and are scheduled around student availability. Members meet two to three times per semester.
Outside of meetings, the time commitment is minimal and typically involves sharing feedback or participating through email, Teams or other virtual communication methods
Application
Applications for Fall 2026 are currently OPEN and may be reviewed on a rolling basis until membership is finalized. Eight to ten students will be selected. The application is short, and selected applicants will complete a brief interview.
