UHS is awaiting the delivery of our pre-ordered COVID-19 vaccines and currently has filled all available COVID-19 vaccine appointments for our current supply.
Please check back soon for updates on new COVID-19 vaccine appointment openings. You can also check www.vaccines.gov/en/ to find nearby pharmacies offering the COVID-19 vaccine.
Do I Need to Schedule an Appointment, or Can I Walk In?
Get your flu and COVID-19 vaccines by appointment. Walk-ins are available for the flu vaccine, but you may experience a longer wait time. Check the schedule below and book your appointment through the MyUHS/CMHC portal.
Vaccine Administration Setting
The flu and COVID-19 vaccines offered at these outreach clinics will be administered at the locations listed in the calendar below, rather than in a traditional medical setting.
If you are unsure whether you should receive your vaccine(s) in this setting, students can call the 24/7 Nurse Advice Line at 512-475-6877 for guidance. Faculty and staff can consult with their healthcare providers.
Types of Vaccines Administered
Insurance, Cost and Payment
Many insurance plans, including the Student Health Insurance Plan and the UT Select Employee plan, cover annual flu and COVID-19 vaccines with no cost to you.
Insurance is billed for:
- UT students with insurance plans accepted by UHS.
- UT faculty/staff with UT Select or insurance accepted by UHS.
Your anticipated out of pocket cost will be subject to your specific insurance member benefits, however, your maximum cost for the flu vaccine is $10 and $190 for the COVID-19 vaccine. Any patient responsibility/charges will be sent to your "What I Owe" after we receive an Explanation of Benefits from your insurance.
For those that are not insured, have an insurance plan not accepted at UHS, or have out of network insurance:
- If you are uninsured, your cost for the flu vaccine is $10 and the COVID-19 vaccine is $190. Charges will be sent to your "What I Owe".
- If your insurance is not accepted by UHS, your cost for the flu vaccine is $10 and the COVID-19 vaccine is $190. Charges will be sent to your "What I Owe".
- If your insurance is out of network with UHS, your specific out of pocket cost will be determined by your insurance, however the maximum you will pay will be $10 for the flu vaccine and $190 for the COVID-19 vaccine. Charges will be sent to your "What I Owe" once we receive an Explanation of Benefits back from your insurance.
- You have health insurance, but you don’t want to use it, then your cost will be $10 for the flu vaccine and $190 for the COVID-19 vaccine. Charges will be sent to your "What I Owe".
Before Your Appointment or Walk-In Day
To ensure a seamless process, please upload your insurance information to the MyUHS/CMHC portal before your vaccine appointment. If your insurance is already uploaded, do not upload it again, as this can cause duplication. Having your insurance information on file beforehand allows us to efficiently file a claim. If your insurance does not cover the full cost, any remaining balance will be reflected in your "What I Owe". No payments will be collected at the actual flu and COVID-19 vaccination clinics.
On Your Appointment or Walk-In Day
For a smooth check-in experience, please bring your phone and have your appointment QR code ready.
Why Get Vaccinated?
Getting both the flu and COVID-19 vaccines is crucial for maintaining personal and public health for several reasons:
- They significantly reduce your risk of contracting and experiencing severe illness from these viruses.
- Vaccination lessens the severity of illness if you do get sick, leading to quicker recovery and fewer complications.
- Vaccines reduce virus spread, protecting those who cannot be vaccinated.
- High vaccination rates prevent outbreaks, especially in high-risk environments including schools, large public gatherings and events, public transportation systems and workplaces with close contact and confined spaces.
- They reduce the risk of severe outcomes from coinfections (simultaneous infections with two or more viruses, etc.).
- Preventing illness through vaccination decreases lost workdays, school absences and healthcare costs.
- Both vaccines are regularly updated to protect against current strains, ensuring optimal protection each year.
- Additionally, older adults over 65 are at higher risk of severe illness and complications from the flu and COVID-19. See the CDC’s COVID-19 recommendations.
It takes about two weeks after vaccination to develop protection.
