Maria Timm (pronouns: she/her) is a Counselor Coordinator in the Counselors in Academic Residence (CARE) Program, a program that provides mental health services in academic offices to facilitate students' academic and life goals. She provides clinical services in the School of Law. Dr. Timm is available to provide consultation to faculty and staff with respect to supporting the mental health of students at Texas Law. Maria completed her academic training in Vancouver, British Columbia, where she grew up, and completed both her internship and her post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Texas at Austin. She enjoys all that Austin has to offer and loves being outside when it's not too hot!
Areas of professional interest include stress management, conflict resolution, depression, anxiety, crisis intervention, substance use, narrative therapy, supporting first-generation and international students, somatic approaches, including yoga, and working with feelings of impostorism.
CARE Clinical Services
Dr. Timm offers services in-person, via Zoom, and over the phone.
- Students may be referred by a staff or faculty member.
- Maria is available to discuss students’ needs and offer appropriate services (e.g. short-term counseling, referral services, crisis intervention, and groups).
