About the Counseling and Mental Health Center
The Counseling and Mental Health Center (CMHC) provides mental health services to UT Austin students, including assessment and referral, short-term individual counseling, group counseling, psychiatry and well-being services.
CMHC is part of Healthyhorns, which also includes University Health Services and Longhorn Wellness Center. Healthyhorns is part of Health and Well-being (HWB).

Locations
The main Counseling and Mental Health Center occupies more than 17,000 square feet on the third and fifth floors of the Student Services Building.
CMHC also offers care across campus through Counselors in Academic Residence (CARE), who are located within UT Austin’s colleges and schools, and at CMHC @ WCP in the William C. Powers Jr. Student Activity Center.
Staff
Campus Carry
The concealed carry of handguns is prohibited in patient care areas at UT Austin, including those areas in which professional mental health services are provided. Because a significant majority of the Student Services Building (SSB) is devoted to patient care, the entire building is exempt from the concealed carry of handguns.

The CMHC is accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC), demonstrating its commitment to nationally recognized standards for quality client care.
