Safe Ride Programs
Designated Driver Pledge (DDP) and E-Bus

Free service to currently enrolled UT students

UHSsupports programs that help UT students arrive safely to and home from weekend nights of partying in downtown Austin.

DDP
Sign the Designated Driver Pledge to be a designated sober driver for your friends on one or more occasions, and earn a reward for your promise to serve.

Visit our office (SSB 1.106) and/or look for our occasional tables on the West Mall, at Gregory Plaza, and in Jester Center to sign the pledge.

Designated Drivers are the Real Life of the Party.

E-Bus
Capital Metro (with non-financial support from The University of Texas at Austin and the Austin Police Department) provides free shuttle rides to and from UT, West Campus, East Riverside, and the downtown Austin entertainment district.

The E-Bus (Entertainment Bus) operates every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night during the fall and spring semesters while classes are in session.

During the summer, try the Night Owl route

Cab fares from West Campus or Riverside to 6th Street range from $6 to $10. Share a ride with a couple of friends and it will only cost a few dollars each.
