This year we are asking organizations, departments, and individuals who request ribbons to contribute an item for Project Transitions , an HIV service organization in Austin that provides transitional housing for HIV+ individuals and hospice care for people dying of AIDS. The items that Project Transitions particularly needs are below:
- Laundry detergent
- Gift certificates to HEB
- Batteries
- White 7 day candles
- Tomato soup
- Family size tea bags (HEB or store brand is fine)
- Baking mixes (i.e. cake, cookies, muffins, etc.)
- Gatorade
Items can be dropped off at the Health Promotion Resource Center, SSB 1.106, when ribbons are picked up.
Ribbons are available in quantity for those who would like to distribute them to student group members or staff-please email the HPRC at hprc@uhs.utexas.edu with your name, the department or group for which you would like ribbons, and the quantity desired. Ribbons can be picked up in the HPRC or delivered via intercampus mail. Please let us know which method of delivery you'd like and your campus address.
About 4,600 Texans are diagnosed with HIV/AIDS each year and only 14% of Texans got an HIV test last year. Join the Healthy Sexuality Education Program in raising awareness of the continued effects of HIV/AIDS on the health of Texans and encourage everyone you know to get tested.
Until there is a cure...Make Every Day World AIDS Day!
